There are very few movie franchises that actually span over a decade and keep doing just as well as the first movie, if not better. The Mission Impossible movies are one such franchise which has done so well for itself that people keep waiting for the next part to drop.

Dead reckoning left us with a cliffhanger that was discussed for months so MI Dead Reckoning Part 2 quieted all the curiosity around it. We see Ethan Hunt coming back for his last and final mission which has bigger stunts, better action sequences, emotional payoffs and a storyline that you will love.

As Mission Impossible’s final movie – everyone has given it their all.

A story years in the making

Mission Impossible 8’s review 2026 just proves why this movie became one of the best in the franchise. The mysterious AI known as “The Entity” is still the greatest threat in this mission impossible’s final movie and it cannot be just arrested or killed in a mission.

How do you kill something that is not really there?

It’s everywhere.

The personal nature and emotional depth of this movie is what makes it so different because Ethan Hunt and his IMF team needs to prevent a global catastrophe but also deal with their own feelings about loyalty, sacrifice and trust.

Tom Cruise Proves Why He’s Still Hollywood’s Biggest Action Star

At 60 plus years old, Tom Cruise still does his own stunts and that in itself is one of the most impressive things about this actor.

He commits to practical stunt work and does sequences which are the most dangerous and and the franchise’s most defining strengths.  Everyone remembers when he jumped off his bike with a parachute!

Tom Cruise’s 2026 movie shows why he can deliver action sequences with a very emotionally mature and nuanced performance which makes this one of his career best.

We are not so sure that the franchise will not move forward after this, but Mission Impossible 8’s review 2026 does confirm that Cruise gave it his best.

The best action movie of the franchise

Every Mission Impossible movie tries to outdo its predecessor but Final Reckoning actually succeeds at it.

We get high speed chase sequences, large scale practical stunts, underwater suspense scenes and some hand to hand combat sequences that are unbeatable.

Supporting cast shine as well:

One of the reasons why the Mission Impossible series has been so successful is because of the supporting character arcs that we keep seeing.

Ving Rhames, Hayley Atwell and Simon Pegg along with their IMF team have outdone themselves with their performances – with each better than the one in the previous movies.

A new character who we saw only in the last film, Hayley Atwell proves why she was an excellent addition because she creates a beautiful bond with Ethan Hunt which is both emotional and full of chemistry.

According to Mission Impossible 8’s review 2026 Simon Pegg is once again, the heart of this movie and Ving Rhames delivers one of the most powerful and dramatic moments. Unlike a lot of other movies that have their supporting cast in the background, this one focuses on team dynamics more.

What did not work

According to the Mission Impossible 8’s review 2026, the one thing that got the most criticism was the main part of the film – its antagonist.

The concept of The Entity is interesting, sure – but it is also so digital and abstract that it lacks personal presence. There is no actual face-to-face tension, no physical fight with the main villain and no traditional adversaries.

What they wished to achieve with a digital villain is also what became one of the only criticisms for them.

Christopher McQuarrie’s Direction is Elite

McQuarrie has become one of the most reliable blockbuster directors working today. If we look at the Mission Impossible 8’s review 2026, the main thing we see is how wonderfully it was directed – whether it were the action sequences or the slightly-romantic-slightly-professional ones.

The direction in The Final Reckoning shows a very deep level of suspense and pacing. It moves fast, it does not have any boring sequences and every sequence has a purpose.

Is this really the Final Mission?

The marketing does hint towards The Final Reckoning being the last chapter and the conclusion to Ethan Hunt’s story. But if that is true or not – we do not know for sure. Tom Cruise’s 2026 movie does feel like his last MI especially because he said “It’s final for a reason.”

According to the Mission Impossible 8’s review 2026, the film has given its viewers closure and that seems like the perfect ending to the franchise. But they have also left the door slightly open for any future movies or spin offs.

Box Office performance

The film got strong reviews and positive reactions from people all over the world. With one of the biggest budgets for a Mission Impossible franchise, the Final Reckoning earned $598.8 million worldwide with a production budget of around $350 million.

Writing an author’s biography is one of the hardest things and, somehow, always an afterthought. We spend a lot of time crafting the literature but very little on our personal branding. But, in many cases, a reader in a bookstore will look at three or four things at best before deciding to purchase your book
